Alvar's recipes are not specifically designed for dogs with food allergies, but we do offer different alternatives in our selection that might be suitable for allergic dogs. 

Food allergies can be caused by many different sources of protein. Theoretically, any protein-containing food can be allergenic. The suitability of food for allergy sufferers therefore depends on the composition of the recipe and the allergen to be avoided.

For a grain-free diet, we offer our Pirteä (Zippy), Vakaa (Steady), Solakka (Slender) and Herkkä (Delicate) recipes, and our Juuri (Root) vegetarian option does not contain potatoes or animal products such as chicken or fish. Since summer 2021, we also offer our dry food Ötökkä (Bug) with insects as mono protein.

It is important to discuss the change to a diet with Alvar dry food with a vet beforehand. Detailed lists of the ingredients of our dry food can be found on our website under "Products".
