Dried fish heads, what are they?Updated 8 months ago

The fish heads (vendace) are a side stream of a traditional Savonian pastry, "muikkukukko" (it's basically a firm fish stew baked into a rye bread crust).

The vendaces' heads used to be thrown away, until our supplier Järvi-Suomen Kalatuote realised that if dried up, they would actually make a fantastic treat for dogs (or cats. Cats love these too!). When repurposing the leftover fish heads into dog treats, we achieve zero-waste in the production process.
