The carbon sequestered by forests is assessed before signing the carbon sequestration agreement based on published scientific literature on the subject and the management plan of the respective forest in accordance with a model derived from an international standard. The calculation of forest carbon sequestration therefore uses data produced by Finnish universities and leading experts in the field. The completed sequestration of NGS's compensation projects is monitored regularly and all compensations are audited by the highest authority in the field in Finland.
