Why elk skin?Updated 8 months ago
Elks in Finland are wild animals, and their population is maintained by hunting. Only a restricted number of hunting permits are given out each year. Elk skin is a very soft leather, and it is sold to luxury fashion houses. The parts that don't make the cut (e.g. have holes because of flies), we roll and dry up into delicious chews. You'll notice that the elk chews last a lot longer than a less-naturally produced chew, as it doesn't have any preservatives.
As a wild animal, elks have no climate impact, and when producing these chews, we together with our supplier Kokkolan Nahka, strive for minimal emissions. The supply chain from forest to factory, factory to warehouse, warehouse to your doorstep is kept minimal – and the chews are produced (e.g. skin hides dried) with renewable energy.
